What a way to start the New Year….the heart and soul of the new space appeared yesterday. The team set up the foundation and frame for what is approx an eighteen foot bar (and “work” surface). Some of the old beams were used for the top frame. An illuminated panel will drop into the middle, […]
Put up the hanging lights in the game (sometimes conference) room yesterday….some large globes from IKEA made from milk-jug like material.
Much to report, and getting very close to the wrap. Well, closer. Still some items on the to-do list but we can now see the light at the end of the hallway. Here are some things taking shape: Communal sink and stand – They did a great job on the cabinet/stand for the giant sink. […]
The other day the communal sink arrived. The thing is giant…a bit over 6 feet long…and was a burden to get upstairs. It will be mounted on a heavy wood frame, and we’ll add some river rocks in the bottom of it (for added weight?).
Yesterday Red and his crew installed the steel for the mezzanine stairs (and handrails). Matt Decell will follow up with the treads, which are being made from some of the old beams that were removed from the ceiling. The stairs have a big impact on the space…and bring to life the diagonal run that KHA […]
Digging the new windows in the back alley. Actually, they’re the old windows. But new and improved. After some internal “discussion,” and a gentle suggestion from those at the BAR, we wound up refurbishing the existing windows (were full of wired glass, and treated with a few bullet holes). They look great with the new […]
A quick update on things around the 301 King project. It's been two weeks of wiring, hvac and other prep work for the big changes coming.
Despite torrential downpours and first floor flooding (thanks to street level storm drain), progress was made last week. The most exciting part of which was the foundation for the stage that’s located between the kitchen/bar and work stations. The stage will serve as a lounge/conference area and a literal stage for presentations and performances. It […]
Great progress over the last week...things are changing fast. It's awesome when things are rolling along.
Yesterday we took a lunchtime field trip up to Matt Decell's shop to look over wood grain/color samples, as we need to nail down selections for the open kitchen cabinetry and wall systems.
