Yesterday was a happy milestone…..we finally got ourselves up and out of Morrison Drive and into 301B King. The move wasn’t too difficult because we had already purged a lot of old stuff during our last move….so the moving truck was filled mostly with computers, personal stuff, a conference table and assortment of chairs.

We still have setting up to do over the weekend, and Comcast needs to switch the phones over on Monday. But come Monday morning we’ll be working away in our new digs. Stop by for a tour when you’re in the neighborhood.

A milestone achieved this day, the 9th of April, the year 2010. Certificate of occupancy granted this afternoon….the final inspection. From here out, it’s all about us getting things packed up and moved in. Hoorah.

On the one month anniversary of our last post (!)…and just over a year since the first post (!!), perhaps one of the final construction posts. I’ve said this before, but the end is now, really, in sight. Perhaps 2 weeks even.

Things got stalled for awhile as we had to figure out a solution to plumbing issue. Basically, not enough water pressure getting upstairs. So, the final answer was to run a bigger pipe from the street into the building. Apple, us and the future rooftop tenant will now have all the pressure we need. The city had to install a new meter on Liberty St., and now we’re doing final plumbing. Then comes inspection, and then….hopefully…final CO and move in. Could be an April Fools celebration.

Some of the additions in the past month:

Lots of small touches – painting, finish work, the hallway of horrors (you’ll have to see to appreciate), light installation and more. Basically grinding down the punch list.

Final lighting picks and installation – some new hanging pendants, lights above the bar, etc.

The Cape Buffalo – we adopted this from our office above Lucky Brand. Not sure where he or she came from or who snuffed him or her out, but we’ve become attached. It’s now mounted on the wall over what will be a restaurant booth.

Exterior Signs – along with painted ghost sign at the top, we developed some street level signage to help people find us at 301B King.

A few more posts to come as we wrap up plumbing, get inspections, and figure out where to place the work stations.

Matt Decell delivered the desks he made….here’s a pic without their tops. We need to determine the best layout for the desks.

All the lighting is in the house, with just a few final items to install. The bar top should be going back up today or tomorrow as the underlighting will be finished and the onyx insert installed. News signs were also installed in front (above the door).

Other items to complete in the coming week or three…

- Finish design/prints for backlit boards that run along the stairway wall.
- Finish the runway lighting and video monitors that run along an exit corridor.
- Matt Decell to drop off the ping pong table he made (also working as a conference table).
- Finalize a pool table selection (also serves as a conference table).
- Work on set up for all speakers, projectors, screens around the space.
- Final painting/detail.
- Do a massive final clean up.

A few big things being worked on, including a plumbing issues (important) and a the installation of perforated/corrugated metal sheets over the bar and kitchen area (very cool). Here’s the first metal panel installed….

Other than that, lots of smaller items appearing everyday. Lights, bathroom details and employee-of-the-month bicycle parking spots in the entrance lobby.

Also, rope lighting is being installed on top of some of the beams. While it lights the ceiling, you don’t actually see the rope lights until you get up on the Mezz floor. More detail on these lights later, but they are very cool. Flexible, glowing….they look like flowing streams of electrical juice.

Spent hours this weekend building furniture….or more accurately, assembling furniture. While the IKEA stuff looks good and comes at a relative bargain, it does get old piecing this stuff together. I was reminded by a post made on the BI blog a few years back during an IKEA build…the 6 stages of IKEA assembly.
