Construction

Have to catch up with all the video being shot at the space. Thanks to Matt C for moving the camera around every once in a while to catch some of the action. I’ve compiled some of the key items that have taken place over the last couple months: LOTS of woodworking.

First:
The main hardwoods in the space. We went with Caribbean Pine throughout the space. A nice, naturally light hardwood. You’ll see some sanding and finishing towards the end of this video.

Second:
Back Conference Room space (flex) or what we like to more appropriately call: The Game Room. We went with the same species of hardwoods in there.

Third:
For the Mezzanine Stairs we used reclaimed wood from the LARGE OLD wood beams (you see in the background). These were milled and laid as treads on the steel frame.

Fourth:
The stage has been set! This stage is build from a different species of hardwood, finished and stained dark to help match the dark woods in the mahogany bar cabinetry (out of frame), the dark old beams of the mezzanine (and the reclaimed wood on the stairs). We also are using that reclaimed wood for “moveable” steps to get up onto the stage (not seen).

Lastly:
Ahh, relaxing on the outside deck will be nice. You can now see how the Mezzanine is separated by the large glass windows/sliding doors, then flows out onto the rooftop deck. The deck is palletized so that each section can be pulled up if it ever needs replacing or repairs, as well as maintaining the roof itself. It’s IPE wood materials going into the deck. Also we came up with a seating area that covers up a “natural bench” that was there as part of the building and ductwork.

More to come, when we get the ceiling treatments in the main space done, as well as the bar completed in the space.
