Two exciting happenings today. First, the new (old) treads for the mezzanine stairs are now in. The wood came from some of the old heart pine beams that came out…nice to reuse them and they look great. Second, the kitchen cabinets that Matt Decell and crew have been working on also arrived. They started installing […]
The other day the communal sink arrived. The thing is giant…a bit over 6 feet long…and was a burden to get upstairs. It will be mounted on a heavy wood frame, and we’ll add some river rocks in the bottom of it (for added weight?).
Months of construction, I’ve been relatively lazy on posting the time lapse video we’ve been capturing at the space. So here are several new videos ranging from constructing the new roof by the Mezzanine, the outdoor deck as part of the indoor/outdoor space, drywall going in, and structured wiring going in (with a lot of […]
Yesterday Red and his crew installed the steel for the mezzanine stairs (and handrails). Matt Decell will follow up with the treads, which are being made from some of the old beams that were removed from the ceiling. The stairs have a big impact on the space…and bring to life the diagonal run that KHA […]
Digging the new windows in the back alley. Actually, they’re the old windows. But new and improved. After some internal “discussion,” and a gentle suggestion from those at the BAR, we wound up refurbishing the existing windows (were full of wired glass, and treated with a few bullet holes). They look great with the new […]
They're continuing to set the glass wall today. Should be done soon.
At long last, the glass wall is going up this week. It’s amazing to see how much light is shed into the work space with even just a few panels. You’ll also notice the wood flooring that was laid last week.
This weekend the painters have been working hard to prime all the walls and ceilings.
One exciting event of the past week is all the sheetrock that went up on the front area ceiling. That's the section where we raised the roof to fit in the mezzanine, and seeing the white sheet rock above and on the far wall really opens the place up...and lightens things up.
A quick update on things around the 301 King project. It's been two weeks of wiring, hvac and other prep work for the big changes coming.
